<image:caption>I painted this piece as a part of a portfolio in school. It is a digital painting done in Photoshop, and is based off the works of a New Zealand artist called Pat Perry. The piece consists of a beach in Langkawi, Malaysia which is a place that my family and I were very fond of visiting when we lived there. Although I was not born in Malaysia, I lived there for many years, and we still visit, so it holds a very dear place in my heart. I painted the beach into an outline of my head, as it follows the artist model, and shows that Langkawi has significant meaning in my life.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Using the mediums of gouache and acrylic paint, my goal was to create a scenic, yet dreamy winter landscape. By focusing only on cold colours (hues of blue/purple/green), I wanted to make the piece as distant, dreamy and dissociative as possible while maintaining realism. Sadly this piece isn’t finished and has been misplaced so it may never be finished. Thanks!</image:caption>

<image:caption>This piece is an aesthetic and calm painting. The painting does not contain too much detail however it does depict a lot about me. It is set in a calm yet surreal desert with a pleasant purple sand and a salmon pink colored sunset sky. I really like the combination of these two colours because it helps me experience this serene and pleasant feeling. The cactus portrays to me as my favourite plant and symbolizes a very important principle to me, which is to not judge someone just by their outward appearance. A cactus looks scary on the outside due to its tall stature and also being covered in prickly thorns, however the inside is a fleshy interior which contains water. This shows that although someone or something may look different on the outside, that doesn’t define that they will be that way on the inside. The painting also features the spongebob character Patrick, sitting on a rock with a surprised expression on his face. This symbolises to me that life is always full of surprises and whatever the surprise is, we must always remain calm and humble.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I have only recently picked up oil painting as a medium (this is my third painting), and want to focus on building my proficiency in portraits. This means that once I finished watching Killing Eve, I knew I had to paint Sandra Oh purely because of her amazing performance as Eve Polastri. This portrait is quite important to me, because while I know that I still have a way to go, this was the portrait that was the first I felt confident painting. It is the first milestone in my journey, and I feel quite proud of this particular piece.</image:caption>

<image:caption>For level 3 Art Design I was required to create a product to sell. I chose to create my own video game filled with a rich story and dark tragedies that follow women escaping their lives of oppression. I created this character myself so she is completely original. This was created as a portrait to show closeups of each of my characters in their most defining moment. North’s character was abused by her mother as a young girl for not having control over her powers, although the abuse and trauma inflicted on North prevented her from controlling them. Years later she discovered the whole town knew about her abuse and did nothing. During a battle with the village guard, she gained control of her powers as she finally reconciled with her pain, but destroyed her entire village in the process. This painting follows that moment.</image:caption>

It's a result of being nosy, but it's also a result of yearning for connection; curiosity. <image:caption>"A Symbol Of Global Trade, A Double Entrendre, As Well As A Classic Device For Humour" It's the banana duct taped to the wall. The title is a quote from the gallery founder that showcased the first banana duct taped to a wall, Emmanuel Perrotin, in an attempt to justify this piece of pop art. Many criticised that this modern piece of pop art is unworthy to be called art, and unworthy to be priced at a whopping $120k. My painting is a study of that, but also serves as an ironic and comedic poke at what people deem as "real art". Like the original banana, this piece aims to humour people and make them think at the same time.</image:caption>

<image:caption>This piece, "weee", follows the concept of unhealthy consumerism. We can see 2 girls excitedly sliding down a can of coke as seen from their facials and body language(arms spread out). Coke is a product that is well known internationally and is mass-produced daily. On the other hand, cola, in general, is also known for its unhealthy side effects when consumed over time. Similarly, nowadays, we mass-produce at a faster rate than we consume. This leads to wasted products, and therefore materials to make products in the first place. The kids, representing our society, are happily sliding, creating contrast as they are utterly naive to these harmful effects.</image:caption>
